Jen Hitchings (b. New Jersey, 1988) is a Los-Angeles based artist who depicts surreal, natural environs in monochromatic colour. Her influences range from the rural Japanese landscape, the Hudson River School painters, science fiction film posters, spiritualist archetypes, and contemporary surrealist painting. While her work has always investigated the tenuous relationship between humankind and nature, in recent years the artist has embarked on a deeply self-reflective investigation of the psyche, relationships, erotic desire, and cosmic forces. The artist’s recent solo and two-person exhibitions include Anat Ebgi, Los Angeles, USA; Taymour Grahne Projects, London, UK; MEN Gallery, New York, USA; and Studio Kura, Fukuoka, Japan.
