Danielle Winger’s (b. La Fontaine, USA) work honours the landscape as itself and as a metaphor. Mountains become places of ascension, inwardness and grace. Anthropomorphic trees light up in moonlight, reflected in water that has no boundaries but holds memory all the same. Her intensely personal portraits of quiet, meditative spaces encourage contemplation, reflection and investigation of self, sublimity and the divine. The artist’s recent solo exhibitions include Visions West contemporary, Denver, USA; Seizan Gallery, Tokyo, Japan; Red Arrow Gallery, Nashville, USA; and Harrison Center for the Arts, Indianapolis, USA.
