"While I was finishing a series of paintings filled with chairs, instagram's algorithm, amongst the endless content that can consume our time, left me this little treasure: less than a minute of video, For me, that chair Giorgio de Chirico spoke of was memory. It was where my grandfather sat; it was afternoons of stew, nights of cards, and Christmases preparing food. It was wood; it was uncomfortable and
heavy, light and comforting, simple and familiar. It was my grandmother’s sweet voice when she told me, "Sit properly, bring the chair closer to the table, sit next to me, bring another chair or eat a little more." That chair was all of those memories and none of them at once. Maybe that’s why I painted so many versions of it, but after painting it so much, it stopped being a chair. It became an object, but first, it was a memory, then it was a painting, that painting became many paintings, many rooms and many more chairs, and now, maybe, "I put it there because it fits well." ‘’It is better to watch and not to look for hidden meanings. Paintings are contemplative, you have to watch them.’’
